Big Phonics - ‘oo’, ‘ew’ and ‘u-e’.

 In phonics today, year 1 practiced and consolidated the long ‘oo’ sound.


We played 2 games: Crown It, a bingo style game linked to reading ‘oo’ words and Queen’s Run Quickly, a game where they have to run to the correct grapheme then write the word. The winner got to wear the crown and sit on the royal throne. 

A final group had the independent task of handwriting where they focussed on the graphemes linked to the long ‘oo’ sound.

English - I can draw a story plan

 As part of our work focussed around The Three Little Pigs, the children in year 1 drew the story plan of the story.  We started off by retelling the story and then going through the key 6 points from the story. The children then drew those key 6 points and coloured them in.  Have a look at some of our fantastic pieces of work.
