English Hook - Coastguard Visit

Year 1 had a very exciting visit this afternoon from the coastguard! Whilst we were playing outside, the coastguard truck came down the drive with the lights and sirens on. 

The coastguard officer explained they had been on a search on the beach and found a bottle that contained a message. The part poking out the top said ‘to the children’ so they delivered it to us before continuing with their search. 

The children all gathered in one classroom to get the letter out and read it. It was from a lonely penguin from Antarctica who explained that he wanted to make some friends. The children were very excited and all decided to write their own letters back to the penguin and drew pictures. They want to send their messages back in the bottle to the penguin.
